Qarat, l’ajouré, is a creation from the “Froisser les Murs” Collection by Samir Mazer. Unveiled at the Révélations Biennale in Paris 2025 at the Grand Palais, “Froisser les Murs” engages our senses. The ceramics serve as a bridge to a new sensitive understanding of earth, evoking the vibrational qualities of textiles on a moving body through each piece.

Techniques such as embossing, pleating, tufting, braiding, and gathering are the core intentions of this new series. The patterns suggest the memory of this living material, making the earth come alive in the presence of light. Furthermore, like a textile thread, it reveals a point of intersection between the finite and the infinite—a powerful symbolism that invites us to encounter the inaccessible while evoking our emotions.

This creation is a true bas-relief, adaptable to architectural applications. It is delivered in a rigid panel format of 30 x 30 x 2 cm for easy installation.

The “Froisser les Murs” collection has been nominated for the Design Award from the Arab World Institute in the Contemporary Crafts category for 2025.
